Since its inception, the St Aloysius Institute of Konkani has supported the language and literature of Konkani.
Being one of the oldest institutions amongst all Konkani institutions, the Institute of Konkani presents a unique literary program series—'Bolkamv' (Balcony)—scheduled at the institute's premises.
The 'Bolkamv' series aims to encourage literature, using a small platform with sound, light, and seats, to present to a precise gathering of 40-50 enthusiasts, including students, faculty members, and writers.
The program will introduce a one-hour session during which a senior or emerging storyteller, poet, novelist, or dramatist will share excerpts from their work and discuss them with the audience.
It will be inaugurated by Dr. Fr Praveen Martis SJ, chancellor of St Aloysius Deemed to be University, on Saturday, September 7, at 10 a.m.
Renowned contemporary Konkani storyteller Melwyn Pinto Neerude will read excerpts from his short stories and lead a discussion on the art of short story writing. A dialogue with scholars will follow his presentation.
The Bolkamv Literature Series will be a platform where contributors from various fields of literature, such as poetry, short stories, novels, translation, and drama, will showcase their works and experiences and share them with the literary community.
